Hello there!
Deciding to come to Canada to study is a brave and a very-well thought out decision! Congrats on taking the first step!
Having been an International Student myself in the city of Toronto coming from Mumbai, India - I went through so many phases of utter confusion, nervousness and hopelessness in the initial months until I figured out the way things work here by myself.
I am now using this Blog to reach out to you and help as many New Students and Immigrants on the things we don't research much about before making the move - The Regular Ways of Life and How Things Work in Canada - specifically Toronto.
This is so important yet almost always overlooked. Simple everyday tasks too can be very daunting! My questions started with the moment I collected my bags at Toronto Pearson Airport, with the very last bag snugly placed on the trolley my instant thought was "Okay, now, where exactly do I go from here? Should I take the cab? Is there a more economical way? Does this city have traffic issues? Will I be broke after an age-long cab ride because of traffic? Are the buses convenient? How do I pay for the cab or bus? Do they carry enough spare change for my freshly opened bunch of slippery plastic currency notes?"
Every hour of every day for the next 6 to 9 months brought more questions more search for resources to make the right, informed, economical, legally correct decisions for seemingly silly things.
So! Worry not I will try my best to be your knight in shining parka!
(For those of you who don't know what a parka is, its the primary piece of clothing for the next 80% of your time here in Canada)
I am here to answer all questions from: How and where do I buy milk? To I missed the deadline on the TTC pass for this month, what do I do? and I am always the right person to come for ideas to save money on food, events, drinks and even mobile phone plans! Anything that crosses your mind really!
For those of you who are yet to move here and are in the process of making a decision, soon to move here or have parents who are worried sick and really need to speak to a mature, more experienced person who has gone through the same path you are now embarking - I am your friend and do dedicated video-call consultations to answer any question, guide you through the process and many be even show you exactly how I survived!
Check out the calendar on my Blog and let's book a time for your call!
